A Surge Begins
It all began with a single thought and single dream to inspire and challenge Hispanic young adults, singles, students, and married couples, to actively live out their faith and impact God’s Kindgom. On August 1st 2008 the first monthly Surge event was held at Waves of Faith in South Fort Worth with about 40 people. It quickly grew and within a few months had reached about 150 Hispanic young adults from all over DFW, from several different churches, showing up to worship together the first Friday of every month. There was an immediate sense of community and cohesiveness that is not commonly seen. It was obvious that God was at work. A “Surge” was happening. That momentum and the absence of an event specific to Hispanic young adults, whether they are single or married, in school or not, with or without a family, led to the creation of SurgeForward. There is a need for an event like this. Even though the event was birthed at and hosted by Waves of Faith this is a Kingdom event and all about investing in God’s Kingdom. There is no doubt that God is preparing and raising up the Hispanic leaders of tomorrow from this very group. It has been compared to Louie Giglio’s Passion ministry in the early days at Baylor University. We are all honored to be a part of this and amazed at how God is working in and through this group.

Our Purpose is Simple
The SurgeForward Campaign is a movement of Hispanic 20 and 30-somethings trading in the pursuit of the American Dream for a world that desperately needs Christ. We connect our generation and their passions, skills, and desires to actual opportunities to put their faith in action. We boil it down to the phrase:
INSPIRE. CONNECT. ACTIVATE
We are a movement of Hispanic 20 and 30-somethings who are passionate about serving Jesus Christ. We are fed up with mediocrity and we want our lives to count for something. We recognize and even submit to the simple truth that Jesus Christ alone is the hope for our world.
That’s why The SurgeForward Campaign does whatever it takes to get this generation to put their specific skills, passions and desires in action for Christ.
We have FOUR objectives that guide our ministry here at SurgeForward:
-
INSPIRE THROUGH VISION CASTING: We all have dreams but for most they are too small. The SurgeForward campaign is all about getting Hispanic young adults to think BIG, to think Kingdom. God’s Kingdom stretches far beyond our church walls, our city limits and even our country’s borders. Only when we begin to see things through God’s eyes can we fully impact this world.
-
CONNECT TO OPPORTUNITIES: The SurgeForward Campaign has teamed up with The RightNow Network and its 75 mission sending agencies and Christian service organizations. Working with local churches and thousands of individuals across the country, RightNow connects 20 and 30-somethings to ministry opportunities through their church or with one of the organizations in the Rightnow Network. On the RightNow.org website, the RightNow Network offers over 3,500 ministry opportunities in the U.S. and around the world such as church planting in Indonesia … Christian sports programs in South Africa … medical missions in the Sudan … inner city ministries in New York … graphic design in Central Asia … and others. SurgeForward is committed to building relationships with Kingdom-minded groups like The RightNow Network to provide unlimited ministry opportunities for those ready to take action and live out their faith.
-
CATALYZE TO ACTION: SurgeForward is a life-changing event where we work side-by-side with several churches to challenge Hispanic 20 and 30-somethings to do something significant with their lives. We partner with some of the top voices in our generation and up and coming Hispanic Leaders like David Arcos, Jeremy Del Rio, Gabe Salazar, Eliacin Rosaio-Cruz, Loui Canchola, Aaron Escamilla, and artists like Amena Brown, Carlos Oscar and others to bring a call for action. We challenge thousands of young adults to actively serve through their church or with one of our several Christian ministry partners.
-
TRAIN TOMORROW’S LEADERS: One of the key elements of SurgeForward are the Leadership Lunch Sessions for those ministering to Hispanic 20 & 30-somethings. These one of a kind seminars build into our future leaders and help them learn how to mobilize their people for Christian service. These seminars happen in conjunction with SurgeForward utilizing SurgeForward as a learning lab where the leaders can see the principles put into practice. SurgeForward is committed to resourcing leaders through events and media to mobilize 20 and 30-somethings to serve in their community and around the world.
